Intuitive controls.

RƎLAY VPB is easy to learn and use. All of your audio devices (sound cards, audio software and AES67 / Ravenna streams) are onscreen in an instantly understandable matrix view. Color-coded patch points inform you when audio routes are active. Just click the crosspoints to connect. Each connection’s input and output levels can be separately controlled. You can even insert VST apps to process audio during routing.

Highly logical.

Control means everything. So RƎLAY VPB has a Boolean logic engine that gives you full control of how your audio devices interact. After audio sources and destinations are defined, switch to Logic View. Signal layouts and logic connections can be built and saved independently of audio components, helping you easily visualize logic flows. Whenever a new piece of audio hardware is connected to the PC, or a different audio software is used, those new components are easily added to the existing configuration – preset connections are automatically established.

Route AoIP, too.

Seems AoIP is a part of nearly every radio facility these days. And because AoIP is computer-based, RƎLAY VPB gives you the ability to route network streams via your PC’s Ethernet port. And because Lawo believes in standards, RƎLAY VPB is 100% AES67 compliant thanks to RAVENNA, the standards-based advertising and discovery protocol with AES67 baked in. A single connection between PC and network, and you’re ready to start mixing, matching and patching. And for peace of mind, VPB supports the ST2110-7 standard for Seamless Protection Switching, ensuring fail-safe link backup to your AoIP network.

At Lawo, we’re all about great audio. So every copy of RƎLAY Virtual Patch Bay includes something very special: the Lawo Processing Suite. VST plugins based on the same tools found in our high-end mc² live-performance mixers. Modules can be applied to any input. The suite includes two compressors (with and without EQ), delay, expander, limiter, graphic and parametric EQ, and a 5.1 panner. There’s also an extensive metering package with peak, EBU R128 and ATSC A/85 loudness and correlation metering.

Build it with VPB.

A Playout Server

RƎLAY VPB plus your playout software equals a playout server. Connect it to your mixing console or router using AES67 / RAVENNA. You can run other apps, like recording or editing software at the same time — just patch their outputs through RƎLAY VPB to route the signals to your AoIP network. Bonus: install a hardware sound card in your server PC and run it in parallel to VPB for local monitoring, or for dual-redundant outputs.

A Stream Encoding Server

Run RƎLAY VPB on a server to connect multiple software stream encoder instances. Incoming audio signals can be processed by plugins from the Lawo Processing Suite (or your favorite VST) before distribution to multiple encoders. RƎLAY VPB‘s extensive metering capabilities can display peak and loudness levels for all signals at once. Want to record airchecks of encoded streams? Easy: just route audio to the encoder and recorder apps simultaneously.

A Virtual Studio

Run RƎLAY VPB on your studio’s playout PC. Add other broadcast apps – remote codecs, VoIP clients, audio processing. Voila — a Virtual Studio. Today’s powerful COTGS PCs can run multiple apps simultaneously, saving the costs associated with studio hardware and fully leveraging the power of your playout PC. Using RƎLAY VPB’s Ember+ logic capabilities, these audio apps can be started automatically on demand, their outputs routed to any endpoint in your AES67 / RAVENNA network.

  • PC with Intel I-5 or I-7 quad-core CPU or better, with a CPU benchmark 10,000 points minimum.

  • Dedicated graphics card recommended for improved performance.
  • Windows 7, 8, 10, Windows Server 2012 R2, or Server 2016.
  • 8GB RAM, 2GB drive space.
  • Gigabit Ethernet LAN connection (preferably PTP-aware).
